Responding to a vocational calling after earning a Bachelor of Arts in Management Practice, Lauren embarked on a journey from Canada to England, where she pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Creative Writing and Screenwriting at The University of Worcester. During her time in academics, she immersed herself in a rigorous curriculum that not only honed her craft, but included specialised instruction in script consulting.
Before completing her undergraduate studies in England, Lauren secured a position with Dr. Rebekah Louisa Smith, renowned in the industry as The Film Festival Doctor. Beginning her journey as a Project Manager and progressing to the role of Senior Project Manager before assuming the esteemed position of Executive Assistant, Lauren plays a central role in delivering comprehensive support to filmmakers throughout their festival endeavours. This entails proficient management of festival submissions and deliverables, as well as overseeing the strategic execution of BIFA, BAFTA, and Oscar campaigns.
Her experience working with The Film Festival Doctor ignited her passion for aiding fellow creatives. Subsequently, armed with a wealth of knowledge and a desire to contribute to the cinematic landscape, Lauren ventured into professional script consultancy. Since then, she has meticulously guided numerous filmmakers in refining their screenplays for production, competitions, and festivals, thereby cementing her reputation as a trusted industry expert committed to enhancing the quality and impact of cinematic storytelling.
Lauren has also served as a discerning juror for numerous esteemed festivals, including the Beeston Film Festival (2023 & 2024), the London Lift-Off Film Festival (2023 & 2024), the Oak Cliff Film Festival (2023), the NZ Web Fest (2023), and the USA Film Festival (2024). Notably, she also lent her expertise as a judge for the esteemed National Youth Film Academy Awards (2022) and as a reviewer for Lift-Off Global Network (2023).
